Base Unit Common to both Ranger® models, the base is constructed with a frame of sturdy wire and threaded rod. It is covered with our highest quality fabric and features a horizontal double-slider zip for easy access. It can be ground tethered or hung. Central Cone Made of strong, light-impervious cotton, the Capio cone features straps which can be used to mount actinic tubes horizontally across the cone and 22 watt ring tubes horizontally or vertically. Part way down the cone sits the 38mm lampholder, ready to accept your MV/MBT lamp up to 160 watts. The lampholder can be quickly and easily removed to fit an actinic vane unit. If you wish to fit a vertically mounted actinic tube, please purchase the steady bar, available as an optional extra. Rainshield This is made of sturdy clear and colourless PVC, and simply and quickly bolts on top of the cone unit. IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNING: MV & MBT lamps must not be operated a) uncovered in rain, or b) with the shield in conditions of wind-blown slanting rain. Raindrops are likely to cause the bulb to crack or explode, with risk of personal injury. In inclement conditions Insectopia therefore recommend the use of actinic lighting sources. Insectopia also recommend the use of actinics rather than MBT or MV lighting for attended trapping and public events. Whilst actinic tubes normally run sufficiently cool not to be shattered by rain, it is important to seek the advice of your specialist electrical supplier to ensure that all electrical components are safe and fit for purpose.
